Prayer for Discouragement

Updated: Jul 27, 2020

Prayer Matter: Discouragement

Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise Him again, My Savior and my God! (Psalm 42:5)

Heavenly Father we enter Your gates with thanksgiving. Though hearts may be bowed down we offer You a sacrifice of praise. Be lifted up everlasting doors and we ask You the King of glory to come in and give rest for weary souls.

Though trouble has increased, and many may rise up against us You promise to be a shield for us, our glory, and the One who lifts up our heads. As we cry out You hear from Your holy hill. (Psalm 3:1-3) Lord, You hear us as we pray and are attentive to our groanings. You listen to our cry for help, our King, and our God.

Holy God, we ask that You lift up the light of Your countenance upon us and put gladness in our hearts as we come before Your throne. There is a multitude of Your mercy and unrestrained grace at Your feet. Have mercy on us when we are weak and sapped of spiritual strength. Lord of glory endow us with Your all-sufficient grace, perfected strength, and all-encompassing hope.

At times we are so overwhelmed and we can't see or feel our way. Your Word reminds us that You are a very present help in our time of need. Emmanuel, God with us. Holy Spirit, God in us! The Lord, strong and mighty! The Lord mighty in battle! Our Great Sustainer! We shout for joy because You defend us! Those who love Your name can be joyful in You! For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous; with favor, You will surround us as with a shield. (Psalm 5:11-12)

Gracious Father, we thank You for Your shield hovering over us! You are our defense and You raise our bowed down heads! You have not forsaken those who trust and seek You. You are fully present, fully trustworthy, and absolutely faithful every single time. In this, we greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, we have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of our faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ. ( 1 Peter 6-7)

Father, You do Your best work in us in the fire. While in the fire may our faith catch fire! Help us to stand firm and to be strong, not by might nor by power but by Your Spirit! Hallelujah! Holy Spirit help us to cast down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. (2 Corinthians 10:5)Q

In Your kindness, you have called us to share in Your eternal glory by means of Jesus Christ. So after we have suffered a little while, You promise to perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle us! (1 Peter 5:10) Lord, You do it every time! Why do we doubt You?

We thank You, for You are the Light that shines in the darkness and the darkness cannot extinguish it. (John 1:5) With great hope and expectancy, we pray in Jesus' name. Amen.

For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary but the things which are not seen are eternal. (2 Corinthians 4:17-18)

Powerpoint: Refrain your voice from weeping, and your eyes from tears; for your work shall be rewarded says the Lord. There is hope in your future. The everlasting God neither faints nor gets weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might, He increases strength. May your peace be still, your joy be full, and your be faith ignited. May your hearts be quenched by heaven's rain. In times of trial KNOW that you are STILL in the arms of Father and He IS making a way.

Be greatly encouraged.

I love you and I'm praying for you.

Shannon
